This group meets quarterly at PORT Human Services in Kinston or UNC Lenoir Health Care with area stakeholders involved with mental health crisis issues in the community.
The collaborative is a structured way to bring the group to a regular meeting to hear the needs and identify strengths and challenges to problems arising in this area.
People struggling with mental health problems and substance abuse problems often do not know where to turn before it’s too late. “If we can reach them in the community through mobile crisis we can help them with an intervention, work through the crisis and then get them connected to services,” states Courtney Boyette community relations specialist at Eastpointe, and leader of the Lenoir County Crisis Collaborative.
A key focus of the group is to spotlight existing mobile crisis resources that can be tapped into at the community level. Mobile crisis provides services for people with mental illness or substance abuse problems and for those with developmental disabilities.
