When you are trying to lose weight, yo-yo dieting and fad diets may be appealing; however, they may make it harder to keep the weight off in the long run. Lose weight the right way, and you will set yourself up for long term success. The HealthyLife® Weigh program at UNC Lenoir Health Care teaches you how to reach a healthy weight safely and how to maintain your weight wisely. This weight management program focuses on weight loss goals supported by healthier nutrition practices and increased physical activity. It is ideal for the individual who needs to lose 10-40 pounds and is at a stage of readiness where lifestyle changes can be made.
This is a 4 week program led by a registered dietitian at UNC Lenoir Health Care. The program is a modified form of the national program, HealthyLife® Weigh, and focuses on the necessary formula for permanent weight loss: balancing calorie intake from food and calorie output through physical activity. The registered dietitian will assist you in making permanent lifestyle changes to help you get to and stay at a healthy body weight. This is not a diet but a new way of incorporating positive eating and activity habits.
The 4 classes will include topics on: meal planning, grocery shopping, emotional eating, portion sizes, daily tracking, recipe makeovers, etc.
